Redeeming Love

How many times has a simple story lifted your spirits or caused you to reflect on the goodness of God?

The first Christian novel I read was Francine Rivers’ Redeeming Love. The tremendous odds Angel faces as a child, rejection of her father, the betrayal of her mother, and the cruelty of the man who hires her out for money make my problems seem tiny. But the mercy of God in sending her a man who refuses to give up her reflects the love of Christ for each one of us.

On a personal note, Redeeming Love was the book that started me on my journey with There is a River. Angel’s story is the favorite of a number of young women in my family, a dog-eared copy has been passed around for years. There is power in the blood and in the written word.  What novel was the most significant in your life?  Share in the comments and remember to subscribe to receive updates on new posts.
