For a novel written in the last century Frank Peretti’s This Present Darkness couldn’t be more relevant.

Setting: a college town somewhere in middle America. Conflict: demonic strongholds are systematically taking over each institution—including marriages and families.

Sound familiar? Peretti takes license with his depiction of angels and demons, but the strategies both armies use playing out in real-time across our society. Our schools, media, politicians, entertainers, etc. are more blatant than ever in pushing The NEW WORLD ORDER, which in this novel is also referred to as the UNIVERSAL CONSCIOUSNESS, and is at its heart, is a manifestation of hell on earth.

The plot is tight, the characters relatable, and the message, that prayer changes things, is extremely uplifting. It even ends on a cool and unpredictable note, a refreshing plus. Five Stars to This Present Darkness!

For any fans of DC comics in the house the link below opens a bit of flash fiction I published in the Artvoice Magazine back when it came out in paper. It’s about the downside of being a superhero. Enjoy!
