Dragons Unleashed  by CJ James

In this epic tale set in the time when giants competed with men for dominance of the land, a time when the tragedy of Cain and Abel was fresh in the collective memory, we gain a glimpse of what life may have been like after the sons of God married the daughters of men. Though the story features an expansive cast, the heart of the drama concerns two brothers and a prophecy regarding which of them will succeed their father as king.

The antediluvian world is changing. Though the sons of Adam have enjoyed a season of peace, rumors of war are on the rise. The giants, whose population has dwindled due to a lack of females and fertile males, plot to overthrow a major city and kidnap as many young maidens as possible.  The royal family who feign allegiance to the Creator, are heavily influenced by a corrupt priesthood. It’s hard to decide which side of the conflict to root for since neither shows much moral authority. But we soon discover that the true villains, the Nachash, shapeshifters  whose ruler is the devil himself, have been influencing them both. The future of mankind teeters in the balance as the expansive cast of characters confront their foes both physical and spiritual.

The novel contains violence, romance, and plenty of magic, but also reflects the biblical values of  honesty, courage, and faith. Fans of The Old Testament, The Game of Thrones, Arthurian Legend, and even Beowulf will enjoy this richly layered story.
