Latest and Greatest in Christian Fiction Newsletter/ January 2026

Happy New Year? The question mark here is not a typo, but an introduction to my topic: zeitgeist. You may be aware of this German word for the general mood a culture finds itself at a given time.

An important question for writers since it indicates the type of stories readers are looking for. The conventional wisdom is that during times of peace and security we prefer dark tales of danger and intrigue. Mystery and high stakes, whereas when enduring a season of stress and uncertainty we gravitate toward books full of happiness and reassurance.

So tell me, what will it be this year?  I’m serious. Anyone who can predict the zeitgeist of the USA in 2026 with a degree of specificity wins a free book, postage paid. IMO-the country is split between optimism and pessimism depending on your political stance, but if you see a trend, please let me know.

Also, what do you think about sequels? I just finished the first book in a series which, of course, ended at the edge of cliff, fictionally speaking. I’m getting a little weary of this device myself, but perhaps you do not. If you can convince me that it is more than just a gimmick you get a book, free and postage paid.

This month everyone gets chapter three of The Code. If you are tired of the installment plan the book is available on Amazon. I hope to hear from you soon!  Here is my email: pmooneysweet@gmail.com

Warm regards,

Pat Sweet
